Photos of my trip to France in September-October 2008
My first stop was Lyon:
Statue of Louis XIV at the Place Bellecour
Merry-go-round and fountain at the Place de la République
Pedestrian bridge over the Saône River
Crossing the bridge, looking up to the Basilica de Notre Dame de Fourvières
These are the steps up to the Basilica - there are a lot of them
An exhibition of freestyle slalom rollerblading at Place Bellecour - absolutely
incredible - check out this
link to see what it looks like. These people were amazingly good.
Next stop - Chateau Martel in Roanne, where the École des trois ponts is located
A foggy morning in rural France
I rode a bicycle along the canal into the town of Roanne
The basin where many boats are moored - people often live on these boats.
The Hôtel de Ville (City Hall)
The downtown pedestrian shopping district
Bicycling back along the Loire
The school will be moving out of the Chateau Martel this winter and into this house:
There is still a little work to be done before it is ready . . .
The first week there were just two students -
Kathleen (another student from Australia) and Pascal (professor)
The second week we had a lot more company -
From left to right - Rudi (Germany), Helle (Colorado but originally Danish),
Gunter (Washington, DC, brother of Rudi), Valerie (professor) and Maria
(Spanish, living in London currently) - (lousy photos taken with my cell phone
camera, but at least you can see the other students)
Here you can see Victoria (Seattle) too
